Southeast Youth and Family Services (SEYFS) proudly announces its golden jubilee as a cornerstone of support and empowerment for families in Seattle and throughout King County. Founded in 1974, SEYFS has remained steadfastly black-led, reflecting its deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout its five-decade journey.

For fifty years, SEYFS has been a beacon of hope, providing vital counseling, family support, and early childhood development services to countless individuals and families. Its mission, deeply rooted in compassion and advocacy, is to assist youth and families in achieving safe, self-sufficient, and stable lives.

“We are immensely proud to mark this significant milestone in our organization’s history,” said Executive Director, Anthony Austin. “For half a century, SEYFS has been a lifeline for those in need, offering support, guidance, and resources to navigate life’s challenges. Our unwavering dedication to serving our communities, especially those who have historically been marginalized, remains at the core of everything we do.”

SEYFS’s impact is far-reaching, touching the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Through its comprehensive range of services, including individual and family counseling, family strengthening groups, and early childhood development programs, SEYFS empowers children, youth, and families to build brighter futures.

Reflecting on the journey of the organization, Anthony Austin added, “As we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the incredible resilience and strength of the communities we serve. Our commitment to fostering inclusive, thriving communities remains as strong as ever.”

As SEYFS commemorates fifty years of service, it looks ahead with optimism and determination, reaffirming its commitment to advancing strong families, resiliency, and thriving communities.  The organization invites the community to join in celebrating this milestone and looks forward to continuing its vital work for generations to come.  Please save the date to join us in celebrating our 50th anniversary at our annual Southeast Day block party on Saturday, June 8th.  This will take place from 11:00am – 3:00pm outside our office at 3722 S. Hudson Street, Seattle, WA 98118.
